What Is Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge?

The Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge (MECC) is a program designed for college and university students to enhance their Excel proficiency through engaging challenges and competitions. It provides a platform where students can improve their skills by tackling real-world scenarios, making the learning process both practical and enjoyable.

How Does It Work?

MECC consists of two main components: Challenges and Competitions. Challenges are completed individually at your own pace, covering topics ranging from personal finance models to advanced Excel functions. Competitions, held at specific times, offer a competitive platform to test your knowledge against students worldwide. By participating in either or both components, you have the opportunity to showcase your skills and earn a Certificate of Completion. This program for students is FREE of charge.

Who Organizes MECC?

The MECC was founded by Associate Professor of Finance David Brown and Andrew Grigolyunovich, CFA, MFM in 2021. It is. organized by Financial Modeling World Cup with support of a professor network. You can read the full story of the origins here.

How to Support MECC?

MECC is able to offer free online access to students around the world thanks to the support of companies and individuals who believe in giving students opportunities to develop their Excel skills and compete on a global stage.

MECC was co-founded by David Brown, who also founded the Foundation for Spreadsheet Education, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students and educational opportunities through Excel Esports. The Foundation works alongside MECC to support the student experience and help make these opportunities accessible to more students.
