At the center of this season’s individual competitions, the Weekend Battles give students a monthly chance to show off their skills on a global stage. These events bring together students from around the world, offering a competitive environment to test their expertise in Excel against peers.
Hosted on the Excel Esports Online platform, these events take place over one specific weekend each month from January through April in Spring Season and August to November in Fall Season. Every battle introduces a new, uniquely themed Excel Esports case offered at two levels of difficulty: Junior Varsity for those just starting out, and Varsity for more advanced players.

Weekend Battle takes place over one weekend every month, staying open for two full days so you can pick a start time that works best for your schedule – no matter your time zone. Every case has a 30-minute time limit that begins the moment you join the game. You’re encouraged to try both difficulty levels, but if you compete in both and place above the median in Varsity, your result for Junior Varsity won’t be ranked. After each weekend battle official rankings are published here.
To celebrate dedication and growth, students who take part in at least three of the Weekend Battles throughout the year, will earn the Excel Athlete badge. This digital badge shows your commitment to the season. Check out the other available badges on the Certificates page!

Stay ahead of the competition by marking your calendar for the upcoming season. Each month brings a new opportunity to earn badges, and sharpen your skills.

Official results will be published on the MECC Rankings after each event. To celebrate top performers, the top 30% of competitors will have their full names, countries, and university shown on the public leaderboard.
For everyone else, results will be published anonymously. Competitors can compare their score with their Rankings ID from the platform.
The cases in the Weekend Battle are the same used for the MECC Team e-Invitational. To keep things fair, students competing in the MECC Team e-Invitational won’t be ranked in that month’s Weekend Battle standings.
